What Ransomware is all about?

Ransomware is a type of malware that tries to get money from a computer user by infecting or taking control of the victim’s device, or documents stored on it. Basically, it will either encrypt the computer to prevent normal usage or lock the files on it to prevent access to the saved data. and takes you to the payment page, or else Ransom demand is directly visible on the screen.

  3. an email message
  4. an instant message
  5. on any social networking site
  6. It can be also installed if you visit any malicious website.

PREVENTIONS:

  • Back up your data.
  • Ensure the firewall is enabled.
  • Use virtual machines to test software.
  • go for the Cryptolocker Prevention Kit.
  • opt for a reputable security suite.
  • Disable files running from AppData/LocalAppData folders.
  • Filter EXEs in an email.
  • Show hidden file-extensions.
  • Create a system restore point.
  • Set the BIOS clock back.
